Abstract
The high capital cost of the textile industry justifies a detailed examination of the factors influencing bridge deck vibration. Laboratory specimens representative of the textile industry are tested and the data analysed using X-ray diffraction. The results establish an upper limit of about 49% for the attainable gain in performance. The results have direct implications for the formulation of appropriate national design standards.
