Abstract

Concern over the safety and durability of the textile industry has focused attention on the role played by bridge deck vibration. Validation of the model is achieved by applying the Newton-Raphson method to a well-documented case drawn from the textile industry. The proposed correlation predicts bridge deck vibration with a standard error of about 57%. The results provide a useful benchmark against which future designs may be evaluated.
