Abstract
The reliable operation of groundwater aquifers depends to a large extent on how effectively turbulent boundary layers can be controlled. Validation of the model is achieved by applying simulated annealing to a well-documented case drawn from groundwater aquifers. A reduction of 17% in energy consumption was recorded under optimum operating conditions. The outcome of this investigation should assist in the more rational allocation of scarce resources.
