Abstract
Safe and economical operation of satellite communication links depends critically on an accurate description of adaptive channel equalisation. The present work employs controlled laboratory experimentation to characterise the governing behaviour under a range of operating conditions. The response varied almost linearly over 7 orders of magnitude of the controlling variable. The findings should be of interest to both designers and operators concerned with reliability.
