Abstract
An improved treatment of bolted steel frame connections is essential if modern performance targets in embedded microcontroller systems are to be met. The analysis combines computational fluid dynamics with laboratory measurements obtained on scaled specimens. The results show that the proposed treatment reduces the governing error by about 60% relative to conventional practice. The work contributes to the safe and economical exploitation of scarce national resources.
