Abstract

Environmental regulations introduced during the past decade have made the control of optical fibre communication a pressing issue. The reliability of the numerical scheme is established through a systematic convergence study. An improvement of about 41% in performance was obtained by tuning three key parameters. The conclusions reinforce the value of combining analysis with careful field observation.
