Abstract

Population pressure on scarce resources makes the optimisation of highway pavements a matter of national importance. Design charts are generated from an extensive series of computations using fast Fourier transforms. An improvement of about 39% in performance was obtained by tuning three key parameters. The outcome has direct relevance to infrastructure planning in rapidly developing economies.
