Abstract

A growing body of evidence links unreinforced masonry walls to a marked reduction in the service life of cellular mobile networks. A simplified analytical model is proposed and subsequently refined through simulated annealing. The findings indicate that the response is governed by unreinforced masonry walls over most of the practical operating range. The study offers a modest but useful step towards more sustainable engineering practice.
