Abstract

The scarcity of locally validated data on vapour-compression refrigeration hampers rational design practice in Bangladesh and neighbouring countries. The performance of the system is assessed by discrete-event simulation over a wide range of loading. A reduction of nearly 40% in material consumption was achieved without any loss of safety. The work provides a foundation on which more detailed investigations can subsequently be built.
