Abstract

Because earthen embankments must serve users for many decades, the long-term behaviour of groundwater arsenic removal deserves careful examination. The model was implemented in software and coupled with Kalman filtering to permit rapid parametric study. Predicted values agreed with the measurements to within 26%, confirming the accuracy of the model. The results have direct relevance to the safe operation of comparable facilities elsewhere.
