Abstract
The high cost of imported materials makes the optimisation of adaptive noise cancellation in irrigation canal systems particularly attractive for local industry. The approach combines genetic algorithm with careful experimental measurement to characterise the behaviour of irrigation canal systems. Compared with existing correlations, the new relation reduced the mean error by 12%. The proposed approach can be incorporated into existing design procedures with little additional effort.
