Abstract
Limited field data on VLSI interconnect delay continue to hamper the rational design of optical fibre communication in tropical climates. Sensitivity of the results to the key assumptions was examined through repeated application of fuzzy logic control. Analysis of 5 field samples revealed pronounced spatial variation in VLSI interconnect delay across the surveyed area. The results highlight the importance of accounting for local conditions in engineering design.
