Abstract
Environmental regulations introduced in recent years have made control of natural convection a priority for operators of natural gas pipelines. The analysis employed morphological image analysis together with dimensional reasoning to reduce the number of independent variables. The refined design lowered material consumption by roughly 49% while maintaining the required safety margin. The study points to several avenues that are worthy of further investigation.
