Abstract
The high cost of imported materials makes the optimisation of steel connection behaviour in solar photovoltaic systems particularly attractive for local industry. The governing equations were discretised and analysed with the help of response surface methodology. The predicted service life increased by 55% under the improved specification proposed in this study. These outcomes provide a useful benchmark against which future designs may be compared.
