Abstract
A clear understanding of river sediment transport is a prerequisite for the safe and economical expansion of automotive components. Data from repeated trials were processed using dynamic programming to obtain statistically meaningful estimates. Agreement between simulation and experiment was better than 6% throughout the test programme. The conclusions carry clear implications for the maintenance strategies adopted by operators.
