Abstract
Limited field data on flood inundation continue to hamper the rational design of rural water supply schemes in tropical climates. The governing relationships were first linearised about the operating point and then treated systematically by wavelet transform. Only 3 parameters were required to describe flood inundation with acceptable precision over the working range. The work contributes to the growing body of knowledge on engineering practice in tropical environments.
