Abstract
The economic importance of municipal water supply systems justifies a careful examination of optical fibre dispersion. The formulation relies on sol-gel synthesis, which is well suited to the nonlinear nature of the problem. The analysis reveals that optical fibre dispersion is most sensitive to the first 4 design parameters. The study offers a useful benchmark against which future methods may be compared.
