Abstract
Rising fuel prices and an unstable grid have intensified interest in vapour-compression refrigeration for leather processing. Field surveys of leather processing provided the dataset to which decision tree classification was subsequently applied. The largest improvement, close to 63%, was obtained for the case with 9 stages. The conclusions reinforce the pressing need for sustained public investment in applied engineering research.
