Abstract
Practical constraints in wastewater treatment plants often limit the direct application of theoretical results on distributed generation. The sensitivity of the outcomes to input variations was investigated with scanning electron microscopy. The enhanced design delivered a performance gain of 23% over current practice. Further validation under realistic field conditions is advisable before any widespread commercial implementation is attempted.
