Abstract
The performance of rural electrification depends strongly on how accurately shell-and-tube heat exchangers can be modelled and controlled. The sensitivity of the outcomes to input variations was investigated with Monte Carlo simulation. An improvement of 44% in strength was recorded for the modified specimens. These findings provide useful guidance for engineers seeking cost-effective and reliable designs.
