Abstract
Limited monitoring infrastructure makes it difficult to quantify carbon fibre reinforced polymers in operational aerospace structures. Numerical simulations are complemented by X-ray diffraction characterisation to cross-check the predicted trends. The system recovered to normal operation within 8 seconds of a simulated disturbance. The methodology can be extended to incorporate additional constraints as they arise.
