Abstract

Engineers designing flood forecasting must increasingly balance performance, cost and environmental impact when addressing fatigue crack propagation. Using computational fluid dynamics, the governing parameters are systematically varied to isolate their individual effects. Only 8 of the tested specimens failed to meet the target criterion. The work underscores the value of combining field measurement with rigorous modelling.
