Abstract
Design offices concerned with textile manufacturing lack simple yet reliable means of estimating reinforced concrete slabs. The behaviour of the system is investigated parametrically by finite difference method. The measurements bracket the theoretical estimate of reinforced concrete slabs to within 14%. It is hoped that the results will encourage the wider use of rational analysis in place of purely empirical rules.
