Abstract

Population pressure and limited resources make the efficient design of marine propulsion a matter of national importance. To this end dimensional analysis is developed in a form suitable for routine use in marine propulsion. A simple correlation is obtained that fits the data with a scatter of less than 43%. The results underline the importance of local data in the calibration of design formulae.
