Abstract
Rapid industrial growth has renewed interest in salinity intrusion in estuaries and the associated effects on multistorey buildings. A step-by-step procedure founded on statistical analysis is set out for the practising engineer. The calculations indicate that salinity intrusion in estuaries may account for as much as 43% of the total response. The work points to several directions in which further research would be profitable.
