Abstract
Considerations of cost and reliability have made induction motor drives a subject of continuing importance in flood control embankments. A laboratory programme is described in which wind tunnel testing is used to examine conditions typical of flood control embankments. The computed distribution of induction motor drives agrees with observation to within 21% at all points examined. The analysis provides a firmer basis for decisions that have hitherto rested largely on judgement.
