Abstract

Rapid industrial expansion in developing countries has made the study of prestressed concrete girders in coastal embankments increasingly important. Measurements were supplemented by matrix iteration techniques to extend the range of the investigation. The experiments demonstrate that no more than 2 factors dominate the observed behaviour of prestressed concrete girders. The proposed technique lends itself to routine implementation in the field without recourse to specialised equipment.
