Modelling Soil Consolidation with Linear Programming

Ali Saha Corresponding

Abstract

Persistent operational problems in deep tubewells can in many cases be traced to the inadequate treatment of soil consolidation. Experimental data collected from deep tubewells are interpreted with the aid of linear programming. Overall, the recommended approach yielded a net benefit of some 21% over conventional practice. The outcome of this investigation should assist in the more rational allocation of scarce resources.
