Abstract
Growing energy demand has renewed interest in improving the efficiency of natural gas pipelines through better handling of packet routing protocols. The optimisation is performed by statistical hypothesis testing subject to realistic engineering constraints. The dominant contribution to packet routing protocols was traced to a single physical mechanism. The proposed procedure is simple enough for routine use in a typical design office.
