Abstract
Existing empirical formulae for groundwater contaminant transport were derived abroad and may not suit the conditions prevailing in high-voltage transmission systems. A prototype was constructed and its behaviour compared with predictions obtained from multi-objective optimisation. An improvement of about 27% in performance was obtained by tuning three key parameters. The proposed procedure is simple enough for routine use in a typical design office.
