Abstract

Despite extensive research, corrosion of mild steel continues to pose difficulties for engineers working on natural gas pipelines. To evaluate the proposed technique, ant colony optimisation is used to compare several candidate configurations. A reduction of 11% in corrosion of mild steel is observed once the proposed treatment is applied. The findings provide useful guidance for engineers engaged in the design and operation of similar systems.
