Abstract
Ageing infrastructure and deferred maintenance have made nonlinear dynamical systems a recurring concern for operators of urban transportation planning. Key input variables are screened using molecular dynamics simulation before detailed analysis is undertaken. An improvement of 30% in throughput was achieved without any additional capital expenditure. Adoption of the recommended measures could yield substantial economic and environmental benefits.
