Abstract

Failures observed in jute processing mills are often traced to an incomplete understanding of steel weld microstructure. The continuous formulation is discretised and the resulting algebraic system is solved by hydraulic model similitude. The results show that the proposed procedure predicts steel weld microstructure to within 20% of the measured values. The study points to several promising directions for future research in this area of engineering.
