Abstract

Growing urban populations have intensified the demand placed on natural gas pipelines and hence on river sediment transport. A prototype is constructed and its performance evaluated under conditions typical of natural gas pipelines. A reduction of about 24% in energy consumption is achieved without any loss of performance. The results should prove useful in the preparation of local design guidelines.
