Abstract
This paper is prompted by the need to reduce material wastage in urban water supply through a better understanding of solar photovoltaic cells. A parametric study is conducted to assess the sensitivity of the results to the principal variables. For all 6 of the cases examined, the method consistently gives conservative estimates. The approach offers a practical means of reducing both cost and material wastage.
